Q: Are Tekes used in the Trakhener breed?

A: The Turkmen horse was used in the foundation of the breed.
Lately only TB and Arabs have been used though.
The most famous Akhal-Teke used in the breeding of Trakhener was Turkmen
Atti, atti means horse. He was used as a sire in the Neustadt stud farm
where he arrived in 1791.
Tekes are frequently used in Russia to cross with Russian Warmbloods.
The Budjonny stud book recently approved the
Akhal-Teke breed as an improver and the Budjonny-Teke crossed can be
inscribed as Budjonnies.
