Show confusion 09/08/2005 09:18 PM
Ok, still working on grasping the equine
industry here in the States. I try as best as I can to aviod misunderstandings.
Here is how I define the different shows
you can go to here, please correct me if I am wrong.
Breed show - a show open to a specific
horse breed where the horses are judged and the best horse in each group
is best in show etc. A breed show might also offer opportinities
for horse of the same breed to compete against eachother in a discipline
the breed is know to do good in. Example the Moscow Show where horses are
judged as well as compete in classical disciplines and endurance.
Horse show I- a show with horses, several
breeds can be judged by a panel of judges that are not specialized or credited
for a certain breed. Many different equine activities can go on in such
a show. There are small local shows as well as big shows like for example
Equitana.
Showing - when you take your horse to
a competition that is not breed specific, such as show jumping, dressage,
eventing.
