Sometimes the SWANA will hopefully arrange a three year test here in Florida.02/14/2006 05:08 PM
The seem to be no such tests this year.
It is a pity, the tests sets up a nice goal for training of the young horse
and it is a great service to the breeder
owner of the sport horse capacities of the horse. Eventhough Akhal-Tekes
are not supposed to look like warmbloods at all, the standardized test
will give you a good information about the jumping ability and quality
of gaits as well as a thorough vet exam. I have free juped my three year
old girls and they really differ in capacity and technique and temperament.
I place Merdjen number one, Rosanna number two and Pekhimli as number three.
Interestingly enough it seems like, without any structured selection of
Tekes for jumping ability, it looks like the Tekes are jumping with more
modern technique than their older ancestors and not as the breed description
state with a flat jump.
Actually I have seen very few if any,
Tekes nowadays that jump very flat.
Hopefully the Osman son Ozal will be
doing his three year test in Sweden this year. It will in that case be
interesting to compare with the results from his maternal half brother
Gadim.
