PermaLink Achilles a Shael - KaraKum cross 08/10/2006 11:55 AM
I took a quick trip to southern California to look at some Tekes. Some of them made me happy some of them made me very sad.

Here is a picture of a little boy that made me happy, Achilles, he is a KaraKum-Shael cross, his sire is Asman (KaraKum) by Almaz out of Guldenze-Kaltaman . Asman's full sister Gul was ranked the best European selected and bred mare in her age class in 1998 as well as being elite graded several times. Achilles mother Mais (Shael) is by Melesur out of Gheserli-Omar. Mais' full brother Gazyr was the World Champion in the open stallion class in Moscow 2003.

Achilles is one year old in this picture I took a few weeks ago.

He looks like real grandson of Ghezerli.

Jessica:
He is a beautiful young man! I am curious - were all the horses you visited KaraKum relatives in one way or another? It must be exceptionally frustrating to be saddened from visiting your "own" offspring, if that's the case. But Achilles looks exceptional, and I'm sure you are very proud of that!
