In 2008 there will be foals at KaraKum Stud again.

We have found a very interesting stallion for our mares, he is handsome, tall, strong, sound and super nice, very good bloodlines, very good breeding. More info on our dream boy later. We are very excited to see how he will work with our mares.

Ok folks, we had a little bit of a crazy day yesterday, just because I could not wait to share the good news that we had found a stallion for our Osman daughters, as soon as we have finalised the paperwork, the stallion as well as our planned breedings for 2007 will be published. It's great that so many engage themselves in our breeding plans!
Also, to answer a question I got several time yesterday, we will be selling a few foals in 2008, but we cannot decide on from which mares until we see the foals, we do not sell foals in utero.

Hi Jessica, I spoke w/you on the phone several weeks ago- I have two tekes that I got from Tito last fall-a Sere and an Aksakal fathered by A'ad and Mamuk respectively. They are 3 and 4 and shared the same mother. They are both gelded and living in Washington State, I keep them just outside of Seattle and I am working with them using Natural Horsemanship. They are both still quite green but coming along nicely. I have been bitten by the highly contagiuos Akhal-Teke bug and would love to get more involved- possibly in breeding and promoting them. Do you have any words of sanity or insanity for me? What has become of Tito? Tell me about the stallion that has been selected for your breeding. Thanks, Emery

Emery, yes I remember us talking a few weeks ago.
What you have done so far with your Tekes is in my mind the best marketing, you are working on them to become nice riding animals, as well as nice individuals, and obviously you seem to like what you get out of the training.
Far from everyone has the patience, insight and knowledge to take on semi-wild stallions and turn them into nice riding animals. Unfortunately many of the Tekes that are sold from breeders that do not feed or handle their horses end up miserable in closed stalls hidden in backyards.
What would your breeding goal be if you bred the Tekes?
I can tell you that with just a little effort in selection and raising the Tekes are user friendly horses that are easy and motivated to work.
The future for the Tekes must be the breeding of correct, beautiful and high spirited but user friendly horses.
The last era in the USA with the flooding of incorrect, bad tempered and underfed Tekes has caused damage and the way to make the breed come back is to show the public healthy and nice horses from this breed.
My recommendation, you decide if it is sane or not, is to begin looking for a really nice mare that you can use for breeding, go for correctness, typicalness, soundness and bloodlines. Get to know your mare by riding her, and then select, carefully a stallion.
When you begin looking for your mare, make sure that you have specified carefully what you can accept and not in faults as no horse is perfect. Do not ever believe a person that tells you a defect is typical for the breed. If you want to stay sane in the process, visit this blog frequently and do not hesitate to ask for advice from people you trust.
The Pontecorvos business idea to produce a large amount of animals most of them of below average quality, underfeed and neglect to care, and then overcharge for a pure and rare breed obviously did not turn out to be successful.
The herd has been drastically reduced, many of the horses from the herd had to be given away to uncertain futures.
We have found a very interesting stallion that we will use on some of our mares the coming breeding season, as we have not finalised the paperwork yet I cannot tell you his name, he is from a very well renowned Teke stud farm and is line bred on one of the most outstanding recorded Teke performer ever.
