Our baby stallion Orion has developed a special relationship with one of our dogs.

In the evenings when it is time for him to come in for his beauty sleep, he will make sure that he plays hide and seek with our little Italian greyhound, Mino (yes, Todd named him after Mino Denti) , before he comes in. He can hear us closing the door to our house and then he places himself in position for hide and seek game with Mino, we see only the dust cloud from where he has taken off the hide behind the stable for Mino, who runs like the wind to catch Orion, once Mino finds Orion, not to difficult as he hides in the same spot every night, Orion will chase Mino violently until they change roles again and Mino will be chasing Orion. Once Orion is called in though, he immediately comes to the gate being completely calm and submissive, that's cool.
Orion and Mino has a very affectionate relationship, when Orion is chewing his hay in his pasture, Mino can stand around him and chew on, well one of the favourite treats for dogs except for hoof trimmings. When we take the dogs for a walk and leave our farm, Orion is neighing for Mino to come back. I wish I could take Orion into our house so that he could spend the evenings in front of the fire place with Mino but unfortunately our tile flooring is to slippery for Orion to walk on, I'm sure Orion would be much better in the house with Mino.
Mino knows the rules though, when Orion is working in the arena, no games are allowed, last time we free jumped though, our youngest standard poodle, Bumble Bee who is a really goofy girl found out that she could imitate the horses after they had jumped, they normally do a few bucks and kicks, so now our goofy Bumble is on the other side of the fence imitating the horses bucks and kicks after their jumps.

Cute story Jessica! Thank you for sharing. The dog I had in college (a malamute/Alsatian mix) had a similar relationship with one of the morgan stallions. They would roll in the dirt together, and then take turns chasing the other acorss the pasture. Then stop and roll again, and so on... We always cracked up watching them "play" together.

Found this quite funny, and a bit sad in a way.
