Thank you Leonid, what kind of uniform is he wearing, to me it looks like a Kossack uniform, what was he doing in the picture dressed like that he does not look like a jockey to me. I'm just curious to learn more about the people that worked with some of these magnificent stallions.
Also another question, how did Yulduz die?

This dress is typical Daghestanian dress, general for Coucasian peaples. Names "Cherkeska". Kossaks gaved this dress from original coucasians.
About die of Yuldus I must ask of Sharip, I was not there in that moment.

That's cool! Maybe next time you or Sharip go to Daghestan you can find the djigit and ask him from me, Viking djigit, what he thought about Yulduz as a riding horse.

Not necessary to find this guy, there are not such person like Sharip, wich rided Yulduz more. He rided him to steal grape from colkhoz fields.

heīs been ridden in the way the tekes do with their horses. The horse is not in hand (donīt know if thatīs good English), with the head very high, not collected at all. Yulduz is opening his mouth, either to scape the bit or because heīs not confortable in his back.

In my lessons they teach me to do the opposite. I wonder if thatīs good for a teke.

Comments, please?

Blanca, you are perfectly right. The way the Tekes have been ridden in their countries of origin (as far as I can judge from these old pictures) very often must have been terrible for her backs. It was/is another way of riding than we are used and if Filatow had have this "strange" approach to Absent he never would have had his great successes. This man is not "riding" Yulduz, he is just "sitting" on him with all his weight. Nevertheless interesting photo.

Hans-Jurg, in Turkmenistan they STILL ride the tekes in this way...I've seen it at the hippodrome. Is it because maybe a race horse doesn't need to be collected but just "forward"? even if it is the case, is that good for, as you say, the back of the horse?

I think the free riding style without sharp bits that make the horse bend the neck is still used in Turkmenistan, neither do they seem to favour the noseband that you can use to with force close the mouth of a horse that is not comfortable with the hand of the rider.
However, it is obvious that the power transmission between neck and hind end is broken in this picture.
With the above riding style it might be more comfortable for the rider with a long back and weak loin, while the European riding tradition where front end and hind end is connected is easier to accomplish with a shorter back and strong loins.
Note that the rollkur style, with the head down and mouth closed also disconnects the hind and front end!
